This is one of the first of many spooky Halloween recipes for kids that I will be posting this month- because it’s Halloween! My favorite time of year and of course, Wickity Stitch and Tibbits favorite holiday too!
This dark and white chocolate chex mix is a fun kids recipe that everyone can’t wait to help out and can’t wait to eat up!
Halloween has always been near and dear to my heart, that’s why Wickity Stitch’s Sweet Halloween is the first and the most popular book of the series. With everything Halloween that matters, I can’t help but create an awesome recipe with skeletons, nonetheless! Since there is a skeleton that jumped out on poor Wickity Stitch and Tibbits in the scary haunted house- here is a little homage to the spookiest Halloween monster of all...the skeleton!
Let the fun Halloween recipes begin!
Let's get started!
1 cup of white chocolate morsels
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Heat 1 cup of the white chocolate morsels and chocolate morsels (seperately) in microwave; heat up in 30 second increments until the chips start to melt and mix until smooth.
Take a sandwich size ziploc and spoon the dark chocolate mixture in bag and cut the tip of the bag corner and pour into the mold. You can spoon it in the mold if that might be easier for you. Put in the freezer for at least 20 minutes. Clean the mold and repeat for the white chocolate. Note: After popping out the chocolate from the mold, put in sandwich bag and leave it in freezer till you use again. Don't want the chocolate to melt!
Next step-
2 cups of rice chex
1 cup of melted white chocolate
In a medium size bowl pour rice chex and one cup of the melted white chocolate. Time to get your hands dirty! Mix all the white chocolate and rice chex together, after mixing both ingredients- place evenly on a flat baking sheet.
Melt 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Halloween Sprinkles of your liking
Get a spoon and drizzle the melted chocolate on the rice chex mixture. Immediately add as much or as little Halloween sprinkles as you like. Set for about 30-45 minutes before breaking up.
You can add anything else if you like- marshmallows, popcorn, any other type of candy. I had some pretzel sticks in the cabinet and leftover melted chocolate and sprinkles, I made some chocolate covered pretzels. These I kept in the freezer for about 30 minutes before adding it to the mixture.
Start breaking up the rice chex mix, add the chocolate covered pretzels and both white and dark chocolate skeleton molds and anything else you might think would sound absolutely heavenly to add, please go ahead!
